Go Green

Theme for 2022:  "Garden for Nature"
Coming September 10th!
Brittingham Mid-town Community Center, Newport News, VA

Mission Statement:  "Go Green serves the citizens of Hampton Roads and beyond with a free, family-friendly event that informs on green and sustainable practices for the whole family."

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, we have had to make many changes to the way we run our programs.  Some of these changes have been directed by the CDC and our state and local governments.  Changes were also directed by the Virginia Cooperative Extension, our governing body.

This year’s event will be a scaled down version of other Go Green events in the past.  You will, however, will be able to purchase rain barrel and vermiculture kits from this website soon.  Instead of live workshops, the kits and will be distributed as we did earlier this year by asking those of you purchasing one or both to drive up and have us load your vehicle. Assembly instructions can still be found on our You Tube channel.

For those not purchasing our kits, we still have many informative videos on our You Tube channel. Also, visit this site or our main website, nnmastergardeners.org, for updates.  As the theme of this year’s event “Garden for Nature” suggests, there are many videos on our channel which talk about the importance of native plants and trees and the role they play in sustaining our environment.  We were hoping to hold these lectures live but in the interest of public safety that’s been cancelled.

These are trying times for all of us.  With your continued support, we can make Go Green 2022 better than ever!  The Peninsula Master Gardeners again thank you for your help and wish you, your families and friends good health!
